Melissa Mallet

Melissa Mallet was formerly the National Operations and Continuous Improvement Manager for nbn™ Local at NBN Co.

With more than 15 years’ experience in media, communications, stakeholder engagement and government relations, she was responsible for nbn’s execution of community engagement and government programs, campaigns and partnerships across regional Australia, as well as emergency and crisis response coordination.

Formerly the Community Engagement Manager for nbn across North Queensland, she’s led high profile partnerships with the likes of the Queensland Police, and nbn’s industry award-winning Community Engagement response to the Townsville Floods and the 2020 bushfires.

Before joining NBN Co in 2017, she headed up Communications and Stakeholder Engagement for a major telecommunications delivery partner during the high-profile rollout of the nbn™ network.

Her background and first love is broadcast media and she’s still a news junkie. A qualified journalist, she worked for more than a decade as a TV and radio journalist, presenter, head of news, producer and chief of staff in regional and metro newsrooms and on consumer programs across Queensland and interstate.

She joined the Nine Network in Brisbane’s 6pm reporting line up at age 23, played a leading role in the network’s award-winning coverage of the 2011 Queensland Floods and Cyclone Yasi, and has covered some of the state’s biggest court trials, police arrests, sporting moments and royal visits.

She holds a Bachelor of Journalism, is an accredited International Association of Public Participation (IAP2) Engagement Practitioner and a recipient of the National Emergency Medal by the Governor General.

Originally from Charleville, in western Queensland, she is a passionate Maroons and basketball supporter, which extends to her chocolate border collie, Kobe!
