Greg Adcock named NBN Co Chief Operating Officer

07 November 2013

NBN Co Executive Chairman Dr Ziggy Switkowski is pleased to announce that Mr Greg Adcock is to take up the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO) with immediate effect.

Mr Adcock will be a member of the executive committee and report to the CEO.

Mr Adcock has spent the past 20 years at Telstra, most recently as the executive charged with delivering on Telstra’s infrastructure commitments under the Definitive Agreements between NBN Co and Telstra.

He was a key member of the Telstra team that negotiated the Definitive Agreements. In his new role Mr Adcock will not be involved in any re-negotiation of the Definitive Agreements.

Dr Switkowski said: “I warmly welcome Greg to our company. He will lead NBN Co’s network design and deployment activities with a focus on industry partnerships, contract management, operational processes and systems.

“I appreciate the constructive approach taken by Telstra in the release of its executive to commence his new role immediately.”

As part of the transition of the National Broadband Network to an open network architecture including fibre to the node, serving COO Mr Ralph Steffens will step down from the role and leave the company.

Mr Steffens has held the COO position for the past two years during which NBN Co has laid the groundwork for a world class fast broadband network.

In his time at the company Mr. Steffens oversaw the rapid expansion of the NBN’s geographical reach; the successful implementation of the complex IT systems that underpin the planning, delivery & operation of the network and the steady rollout of NBN fibre in Greenfield Estates.

“On behalf of the company, I thank Mr Steffens for his leadership during the critical formative years of this project and wish him well for the future,” Dr Switkowski said.
