Expert consultants to assist with broadband review

17 October 2013

As part of the Strategic Review of the rollout of the National Broadband Network, NBN Co today issued a request for proposal for consultancy services to support the review process.

The invitation has been extended to a select number of consultants. The results of the tender will be announced in the coming week.

The Strategic Review is being led by NBN Co’s Board and executive management. Its primary objective is to evaluate both the:

  • Current NBN operational and financial performance; and the
  • Timing, financials and product offers under alternative models of delivering very fast broadband to homes and businesses across Australia

NBN Co’s Executive Chair, Dr. Ziggy Switkowski, said:

“The Strategic Review is a comprehensive exercise led by NBN Co to determine how best to provide access to very fast broadband to all Australians as soon, as cost-effectively, and as affordably as possible. While the review is underway, construction of the network continues.”

The Strategic Review is due to be submitted to the company’s shareholder ministers, Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull and Finance Minister Mathias Cormann, in early December.

The document will form a key input into the company’s 2014-17 Corporate Plan, which is due to be delivered to the Government in the first half of next year.
